Summertime Real Estate Website Launches

The summer months are always a busy time in the real estate world. Potential clients swarm the Internet in search of their new home, and they leave no website unturned in their journey. With that in mind, we design and optimize all of our sites to snatch up those potential leads so your business can reap the benefits.

We’ve been collaborating with our awesome clients over the past few weeks to deliver our latest batch of websites – dressed to the nines and ready to rumble. From the Chris von Trapp Real Estate team in our native Vermont to Boston’s Cantave Realty Group, we’ve been everywhere. This summer also marks an important time in Union Street Media’s history; we recently expanded into New York with our first website there (you can read more about that here). We’re doin’ big things, and we couldn’t be happier than to have our amazing clients family by our side.

Why We Don’t Support IE6/7

Internet Explorer 6 and 7 were some of the most popular browsers in existence. So why does Union Street Media no longer support them? We get this question a lot.

There are a number of reasons we came to this decision:

  • IE6/7 use is trending downward.
  • Microsoft itself is trying to rid the world of these browsers (http://www.ie6countdown.com/).
  • Technology has advanced a lot in the last decade and we want to provide our users with fast, reliable and engaging content.

IE6/7 use has been trending downward for the better part of 3 years. In 2010 both browsers combined commanded an impressive 28% of the market place. Their use in 2013 has declined to 7% globally and a mere 1% in the USA. On our platform combined use is sitting at 1.7%. This is due to a number of factors, the most important one being Microsoft’s own involvement in eradicating these browsers.

Real Estate Website Spring Cleaning

Art Urie, owner of Lake Farm Realty in Concord, New Hampshire, has been a loyal Union Street Media client since we launched his original site in July 2005. When it launched, the Lake Farm site gave Art a great platform for showcasing his listings and offered his clients a sophisticated but easy-to-use tool for property searches.  Union Street Media’s content management system also offered Art an easy, efficient way to maintain contact with potential clients throughout their property searches and home buying experiences.

This November: thanks for seven new website launches

As cheesy as it sounds, there’s nothing we’re more thankful for than the wonderful clients we get to work with every day.  We’re especially excited and thankful that we have so many new clients this year who have new sites that will drive business in their direction.  While in the future, you can expect to see our launches divided into Real Estate and Interactive, today, we wanted to highlight all of November’s launches.

Forced Registration and The Dark Arts of Real Estate Web Design

On this blog I have written often about giving your website visitors value, making your site the best resource for real estate information in your market area, and capitalizing on the resulting engagement by providing visible and attractive conversion tools on key pages. These approaches work—people see the value that your are providing and frequently will take that next step and contact you. But what if you don’t want to be that nice?!?

Welcome to the world of forced registration, where a visitor is required to provide contact information in order to view more details about properties listed on your website.
